On Monday of last week I began my first day of school at Viera y Clavijo, where I am attending the class year called segundo de bachillerato which is the equvalence of grade 12 in Canada.
I didn't go to class until 3rd period because I had to wait for the director to make me a timetable. When I finally got my classes I went to Philosophy. I had to knock on the door since class had already started and since my spanish is just soo good(not) he thought I was stupid because I was asking if this was the right class. It was. The whole class was staring at me, shortly after when I had to write my name on the attendance sheet he realized that I was not infact spanish which explained why i didnt understand him. Even after 1 week of his class, he is by far the teacher that talks the fastest out of all of them.
Oh I almost forgot about my super easy course load.
Philosophy, Geography, Math x 3, Biology, Spanish, English, Spanish History, Latin, Anthropology and Sociology, I can't remeber the rest. But since I started school late due to my vacation I did not get to choose any of my classes since the 'easier or fun' classes were already full. So I cant take gym or art etc. I have harder classes then a majority of the spanish kids that can understand it!
School is only challenging when the teachers speak because they talk very very very fast. But if they write it on the board I can usually understand. By the way my teachers didnt even know I wasnt spanish until friday! Everyone always tells me how spanish I look, I guess that is a good thing!
By the way, I made friends the first day. I have continued to meet more people each day! They are very helpful and very welcoming! It made my first week of school much easier due to them always assisting me. After one week of school I can honestly say that my spanish has already improved, my friends have told me too. :)
