My "HOT" Vacation

I have been fairly busy for the past 2 weeks. The day after I arrived in Tenerife I was off to the giant volcano called El Teide - the tallest point in all of spain and it is located on my island!
Somewhere on this confusing blog I will download pictures of it. It is VERY hard to miss.

The day after that I went on vacation to 3 other canary islands: Fuerteventura, Lanzarote, and La Graciosa!
My host family has a home in Fuerteventura that they use as an office for Marcos' work. Marcos, Merci and I stayed their for 4 days. My host siblings had to stay at home as they could not afford to miss that much school. Luckily for me, I could! In Fuerteventura we went to the beach every day. My family are really into competitive swimming. So my first experience swimming in the ocean was accompanied by about 20 lengths running on the beach, stretching, and sit ups. Did i mention it was night time, and their was no one on the beach? I wonder why! ahah It was freezing!
Anyways, the running was very useful as I warmed up right away. For the rest of my stay I visited, the Golf Course located behind their vacation home, Musuem del sal (Museum of Salt) - how they manufacture it from ocean water. I also visited my first black(volcanic) beach, and white(playa blanco). I have never been to so many beaches in my life! On our drive up to the beaches I quickly realized that I am going to need to get use to constantly being around/between/next to volcanoes at all times. Everywhere I look there is a volcano! Hard to imagine I know..
After a lovely stay in Fuerteventura we took a gigantic Ferry to Lanzarote where we were going to pick up my rest of the family. This ferry was so big it could fit like 30 buses (we brought the car from fuerteventura) and it had wireless internet! Luxurious I know!

We finally met Diana and Adrian my host siblings at the airport, and went to Cueva de Verdes (the green caves), which are not green at all. They were named after a family that lived near their with the last name "Green". The cave was not an ordinary cave, it was a volcanic cave. Therefore when the volcano near by irrupted, and the lava was flowing it created tubes. When the lava contacted the cold walls of the earth it solidified and created a large tube. This tour lasted about an hour, so if the volcano did decide to errupt I guess we would have been out of luck! Although I was a bit frightened at first, it was much cooler in the cave then on land which I enjoyed and it was very interesting!

We went out for lunch as we were all starving, I ordered fish since we were right on the coast and seafood was the specialty. It was a good thing my fish was so tasty, it helped me forget that the waiter spilt an entire bottle of orange fanta on me...
after lunch we boarded another ferry which took us to our destination, La Graciosa. This ferry was not as deluxe as the previous one, and at times I was sure the entire boat was going to tip over. It didnt, dont worry. We stayed in La Graciosa for 2 days, as on the Saturday Marci, Marcos, and Adrian were participating in a swim from Lanzarote to La Graciosa around 2.6km in length. That was the day the sun burnt me to a crisp. The first day of school people were staring at me wondering why I was so red.. It took all week until my entire face peeled, and now my shoulders are peeling. So I am back at about the same colour of white as i was before. Marcos and merci both came in first place in the race in their age division! I told you they love swimming!!
On the Sunday we went back to Tenerife by plane because we all had to be back for school on Monday. Monday was my first day of school!
